NextGen is pleased to provide survey, imaging, analytical, and environmental assessment services in a growing number of sectors, including:
Services
NextGen provides international imaging and surface validation services. Our experience includes clients from the Canadian Space Agency, World Bank, CIDA, and the WWF. In Canada, we provide technical and analytical services to industry, government, municipalities, First Nations, and landowners. Our UAV service area authorized by Transport Canada is national for RGB, multispectral, thermal, and photogrammetric flights during day and night in airspace classes C, D, E, F, and G. We are certified by Innovation, Science, and Economic Development Canada for aeronautical radio operations.
We collaborate closely with the Center for Earth Observation Science (CEOS), University of Manitoba, which enables us to work closely with researchers and cutting-edge students. Clients that work with NextGen support the next generation of environmental specialists.

NextGen has experience in mapping more than 2,000 km of coastal zone and wetlands in temperate and tropical environments using satellite data (optical and microwave), aerial video from helicopter, fixed wing, UAV, and site surveys.
NextGen is experienced in mapping patterns of suspended solids and phytoplankton in regulated freshwater systems. We can deploy monitoring programs to relate turbidity and total suspended solids to radiometric data, and can map patterns of chlorophyll.
NextGen is pioneering this area of R&D by using optical and synthetic aperture radar data coupled with low altitude UAV data to study the development of pressure ridges and leads (cracks) which pose hazards to lake ice travel after the spring melt onset.
We can deploy field validation surveys for academic and government imaging programs. With our experience in mapping suspended solids, and with our associates in academia, we can undertake surface based ice and snow surveys coincident with RADARSAT-2, or the planned RADARSAT Constellation Mission.
We demonstrate excellence in the capture and assessment of fish habitat data. We have a strong capacity to assess and model water level and flow variation effects on flooding, or aquatic habitat availability for the hydroelectric sector. We can predict aquatic habitat distributions in lakes and reservoirs.
NextGen has developed UAV protocols and has secured equipment well suited for mapping transmission line, rail, and pipeline corridors safely by UAV. We can deploy RGB ortho, RTK elevation, green, red, red-edge, and near IR surveys. Our aquatic experience lends well to river and stream crossing assessments.
Assess vegetation vigor and identify priority scouting areas. We can calculate vegetation indices using green, red, red-edge, and near IR spectral data. Color composites made specifically for your land to extend your knowledge. With our partners at ROGA Drone Inc., areas verified to contain pests can be selectively sprayed.
Our RTK GPS can fix known elevations at your site for use in real-time UAV elevation and ortho mapping. NextGen can image with 3-D survey grade data to monitor shorezone erosion, revetments, dykes, and railbeds over time. Volumetric surveys provide key data to the aggregate and mining sectors.
Let us be the first step towards your drainage solution. In spring or fall we will establish elevation control for your site and map elevation using our real-time RTK fixed-wing UAV. We can also identify drainage patterns over the surface, and identify sinks where water can pool.
NextGen has extensive experience using GIS and rendering software to create predictive models of habitat distribution, habitat availability, habitat use, and water level variation.
We’ve handled a lot of data. We are adept at data management techniques and have managed projects with requirements that range from just a few days, to the design and daily use of large databases for environmental assessment purposes for projects exceeding 10 years.
